Emergency Medical Services

Fire District No.1 provides Advanced Life Support (ALS) level ambulance service to all South Hadley residents, as well as providing mutual aid to surrounding communities when requested.

Fire District No.1 aims to provide the highest level of pre-hospital care, operating 3 ambulances with a licensed staff of 15 full time Paramedics (EMT-P), along with 1 Intermediate EMT (EMT-I), 15 Basic EMTs (EMT-B), and 6 First Responders (EMR) personnel.

Fire District No.1 responds to approximately 1,500 to 1,600 ambulance calls each year, with over 66% of them requiring the use of skills only Paramedics can provide through an ALS level service.
